Sterling silver powder compact featuring beautiful electric blue enamel guilloché with the Royal Navy insignia. The reverse is engine turned. Measuring diameter 7.4cm / 2.91 inches, inside there is a mirror and the original sieve. All fittings work well, there is some general scratching and minor denting to the reverse. Overall the compact is in very good condition. The sterling silver is stamped on the mirror rim with the lion passant. The inside silver cover is stamped for Page, Keen & Page, who were high glass gold and silversmiths by Royal Appointment, based in Plymouth, England, they closed in the 1970s. Page, Keen & Page also supplied Naval and Military messes. There is also the lion passant for sterling silver, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the letter J which dates the compact to 1933. The compact has its original pouch and box from Felixstowe, which was and still is a major UK port.
This is a fabulous English sterling silver powder compact from the 1930s. These beautiful compacts were given to Naval wives, and were by various makers.
