Pair of Victorian Staffordshire Jackfield black pottery cats, with lovely golden bows and glass eyes.

The bodies of these cats was made from local red clay, and then covered with a lustrous black glaze.

The largest cat measures height 32cm / 12.6 inches by depth at the base 20.3cm / 7.99 inches, the second cat is slightly smaller.

We do not know if the glass eyes are the originals, but they have age, the right hand eye of the large cat is at a slight angle.

The beautiful gold highlighting on the bows has worn with time, and the black glazing shows some wear. The cats are in very good condition for their age.

These large and fabulous English antique black Jackfield cats make a statement wherever they sit.
