Antique Victorian high relief lava cameo brooch with a gold filled setting.

This beautiful fine quality brooch has a lovely flowing design depicting a bacchante maiden with vines and grapes in her hair.

It has the old "C" hook clasp and tube pin assembly. The cameo is in very good condition, the setting has some wear to the gold.

What is a bacchante? A woman follower of Bacchus, the god of wine and intoxication, from Greek and Roman mythology.
